General Information : The students that achieve a satisfactory grade at the University Entrance Exams or direct pass conditions are admitted to the pre-license program of the Department. Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Program is a technical program and has 2 years curriculum. It covers concepts of air conditioning and refrigeration, its theory, laws and applications.The education is given in Turkish.  
Qualification Awarded : The Pre-License Degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Program is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum and they become ?Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician?.  
Level of Qualification : Short Cycle (Associate?s Degree).  
Specific Admission Requirements : High School Diploma Placement through a centralized national university placement examination.  
 Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal and informal) : The rules and regulations for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. Transfer can be made among the institutions of which equivalency is recognized by Higher Education Council. The courses to be taken by these students are determined by the relevant department ,on the basis of courses they have completed in the programs from which they have graduated. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Suleyman University and hence of the Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Department is not an exception to this. However, exams of exemptiona re organised at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and Computer Skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her own or through other means,and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriculum.  
 Qualification Requirements and Regulations : National qualifications frameworks may contain levels (or intermediate qualifications) within the three Bologna cycles (e.g. a short cycle within the first cycle). These levels allow institutions to structure a particular qualification and regulate progression through the qualification. Qualification Requirements and Regulations are enacted by YÖK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.  
Programme Profile : his program intends to train technicians having the following requirements: *Having knowledge and consciousness about the Principles of Atatürk and the History of the Turkish Revolution. *Have a good command of Turkish language. *Capable of using vocational mathematics. *Have an intermediate level of English. *Having knowledge of technical drawing, capable of drawing and reading projects and flow charts of AC&R systems. *Capable of using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and component selection softwares used for design of AC&R systems. *Capable of reading and implementing electrical/electronics circuit diagrams of AC&R systems. *Capable of planning of AC&R systems and making basic design calculations. *Recognize the basic components of AC&R systems and capable of selection and assembling relevant to the manufacturer specifications. *Capable of making electrical, thermal and mechanical measurements in the field of AC&R. *Recognize and operate the control systems and their components used in AC&R systems. *Capable of diagnose malfunctions and carry out preventive maintenance in AC&R systems. *Capable of making cost analysis and planning of tasks in the field of AC&R. *Having a safe practices working with refrigerants according to the regulations. *Have an entrepreneurship and self reformation personality. *Dedicated to the total quality and able to support institutional processes. *Having responsibilities for environmental, social and ethic issues on his/her occupation. *Pay particular attention to health and safety precautions about his/her occupation.  
Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples : The graduates of the Pre-license programme in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Department have opportunities of employment in a variety of state and private funded companies. The main state companies w ere they can work are computer and related departments of academic instutions as academic staff and governmental bodies and enterprises as technician.Air Conditioning and Refrigeration technicians holding Pre-License Degree play a key role in industries. Air Conditioning and Refrigerationtechnicians can work in HVAC industry ,manufacturing, system design and development ,technical assistance, and marketing and sales ,as technical or managerial personnel.  
 Access to Further Studies : Graduates with the Pre-license Degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration may apply undergraduate programs in related fields by DGS exam.  
Aims Of Programme : To be able to grow technical persons who know working principles of air conditioning systems and who can take missions for project of this systems and instrument selection.  
 Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : As a general rule assessment is based on 1 mid-term (%40) and 1 final exam (%60) per course. Various courses may demand course works or quizes.  
Graduation Requirements : Getting all courses those are necessary for graduation in legal duration and graduating from the program by carrying out all the courses successfully with a minimum General Grade Average of 2.00.
