Course Aims
To study details of the nuclear shell model theory and to do some simple shell model calculations.
Course Goals
1) One- and two-body interactions in nuclear shell model
2) Effective nucleon-nucleon interactions.
3) Solution of nuclear Hamiltonian.
Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit
1) Undestanding of one- and two-body interactions in nuclear shell model
2) Undestanding of effective nucleon-nucleon interactions.
3) How to use effective nucleon-nucleon interactions in nuclear shell model.
4) Undestanding of solution of nuclear Hamiltonian.
5) Application of different effective interactions to some simple nuclei.
Course Contents
Short Range Potentials- Delta Interaction, Pairing Interaction and Surface Delta Interaction, Two-Nucleon in a Harmonic Oscillator Potential Well, Determinantal Many Nucleon Wave Functions, Nucleons in the Same Orbit, Examples of Effective Interactions in Nuclei.
