Course Aims
The general aim of this course is to present fundamental concepts of physics related to mechanics.
Course Goals
 
Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit
1) Understanding of standards (time, length, mass), unit systems (MKS, CGS, SI), dimensions, units and degree of sensitivity.
2) Understanding of Scalers and vectors, unit vectors and components of vectors, vector operations (addition, subtraction, multiplying), analytical method and three-dimensional vectoral operations.
3) Solving problems and understanding of position, displacement and distance, uniform motion in a straight line, instantaneous speed and velocity, acceleration, straight-line motion under constant acceleration, free fall.
4 Understanding of problem solving interested in position, velocity and acceleration, constant acceleration: throwing motions, uniform circular motion, relative motion
5) Understanding of the meaning of energy, work done by forces, units of expressing work, kinetic energy, potential energy, principle of work-energy, conservation of mechanical energy, gravitational potential energy, potential energy of springs, conservation of energy, power
Course Contents
Measurement and unit systems, Vectors, One Dimensional Motion, Two Dimensional Motion, Newton?s Laws of Motions, Newton?s Laws of Motions; Applications, Newton?s Law of Universal Gravitation, Statics, Work and Energy, Impulse and Momentum, Rotational Motion, Oscillations
