Course Aims
The aim of the course is to get the students acquainted with the matter, chemistry, atomic and molecular structure and stochiometric calculations.
Course Goals
1) To recognize the atoms and molecules, to predict the physical and chemical behaviors of them.
2) Synthesis of new compounds that are the needs of modern technology, determination of their properties, improving and applying the techniques.
Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit
1) Learning of atomic theory and periodic table
2) Learning of nomenclature, types of chemical compounds and their formulas
3) Learning of some chemical bond theories
4) Understanding of the working principles of General Chemistry laboratory
Course Contents
Structure of atom, the historical development of atomic theory, particles of atoms, quantum numbers, Periodic table, some atomic properties, Chemical bond concept, Lewis structure, VSEPR theory, VBT, Molecule Orbital Theory, Chemical Compounds, formulas and nomenclature, Mole concept and chemical calculations Gases, Gase Laws, Liquids, related laws, Solids, intermolecular effects, Solutions, Types of solution, Concentration of solution
