Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit
Students who pass the course will be able to:
1. have knowledge about milestone of Western art
2. have knowledge about the plastic values as formal elements and related theories
3. get ability to make formal analysis through plastic values
4. get familiar with the terminology of the instruments which are used in production of Western and Byzantine art works.
5. have ability to make contextual analysis and objective and reasonable interpretation of art works over concrete data
Course Contents
The lecture,
studies and discusses mainly the formal and contextual analyses of art works which are eligible ezamples of western art between 13th and 20th centuries. And explains plastic values (such as color, light, line, proportion etc.) according to related theories. And studies contextual analyses of the works in the lights of social, cultural, scientific, political, philosophical etc. backgrounds of the work in question.
