Course Aims
To provide information on corrosion, and to help students gain the capability of understanding and evaluating corrosion behavior.
Course Goals
1) To understand the basic concepts
2) To explain relations between micro and macro behavior
3) To explain corrosion behavior of materials
Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit
1) Gain knowledge on the corrosion behavior of materials
2) Understand the methods for corrosion protection
Course Contents
Definition of corrosion, Electrochemical considerations, Electrode potentials, The standard EMF series, The galvanic series, Activation polarization, concentration polarization, Passivity, Corrosion types, Cathodic protection, Oksitlenme ve tufal oluşumu, Design criteria against corrosion, Corrosion of ceramics, Degradation of polymers.
