Course Contents : Introduction to compression of soils and soil compression curves, Consolidation behavior of soils, Consolidation theory and settlement and time relationship, Primary and secondary consolidations, Determination of coefficient of consolidation, Three dimensional consolidation theory, Settlement problems, Types of settlement, Allowable settlement limits, Prediction and calculating of immediate settlement, Primary consolidation settlements and calculating of primary consolidation settlements, Secondary consolidation settlements, Settlement of pile foundations, Control and abatement of differential settlement.
