Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit : 1) Understanding of the terms and calculations concerned with short staple, especially cotton yarn production technology.
2) Making a proper choice for machinery and technical parameters according to raw material properties and requested product quality.

Course Contents : This module is concerned with combing preparation, combing machines, operating principles, important components, settings and functions. Calculation of noil percentage and related settings, calculation of production, important quality parameters about combed sliver. Roving frame and its operational principles, drafting systems, spindle and flyer mechanisms. Examples about calculations of twist, draft and production in roving frames. Ring spinning machine and its operating principles, drafting and winding systems. Important parameters affecting ring yarn quality (roller setting, pressures, ring-traveller, spindle speed etc.). Draft and twist settings and examples about calculations of draft, twist and production in ring spinning machine.

Course Goals : To provide a basic understanding about the machines used in short staple yarn manufacturing, especially cotton spinning.
To improve practical skills about the setting and changes on short staple yarn spinning machines.
Course Aims : The aim of this course is to develop a basic understanding about the short-staple yarn manufacturing processes and important technical parameters, improve practical skills on short-staple yarn spinning machines.
