Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit : 1) Understanding of the terms and calculations concerned with short staple, especially cotton yarn production technology.

Course Contents : This module is concerned with important technological properties of fibers used in short staple spinning. Basic processes in blowroom: opening, cleaning and blending. Examples of different opening lines according to different machinery producers and different end-products. Important quality parameters in blowroom. Card feed and carding machines: operating principles, important components and their functions. Characteristics and settings of card wires. Autoleveling systems in card machines. Examples of draft and production calculations for carding machines. Important quality parameters about card sliver. Drawing frames and drafting systems. Roller setting and critical parameters affecting sliver quality. Examples of draft and production calculations for draw frames. Autoleveling systems in draw frames.

Course Goals : To provide a basic understanding about the machines used in short staple yarn manufacturing, especially cotton spinning.
To improve practical skills about the setting and changes on short staple yarn spinning machines.
Course Aims : The aim of this course is to develop a basic understanding about the short-staple yarn manufacturing processes and important technical parameters, improve practical skills on short-staple yarn spinning machines.
