Course Contents : The subject matter of microbiology, development of microbiology, characteristics of microbiology, the chemical basis of microbiology (energy, chemical bonds,carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and enzymes), microscopy and microscopes, prokaryotes and eukaryotes, microbial growth (cell duplication, growth curves, laboratory cultivation methods), metabolism of microorganisms (energy and ATP, glycolysis, fermentation, the krebs cycle, electron transport, photosynthesis)

Course Goals : To teach the major concepts, principles and applications of microbiology and to learn more about what microorganisms are, how they function, and how they are important in human life.
