Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit : 1. Students will understand the various technologies available to support foreign language teaching and learning, and criteria for their critical assessment
2. Students will learn to evaluate various approaches to computer-assisted language teaching and learning on the basis of theories and research in the SLA field;
3. Students will be aware of the current and emerging technologies in the field of language pedagogy
4. Students will gain knowledge of and skills in integrating appropriate technologies in curriculum and syllabus design and adaptation
5. Students will show ability to implement a variety of technologies in the foreign/second language classroom

Course Contents : Theory, practice, and pedagogical application of the latest Internet and computer technologies in second/foreign language education, including synchronous and asynchronous chat, blog, wiki/collaborative docs, audio (podcasting), video, virtual world/digital gaming, mobile/handheld computing, and social networking technologies, in view of CALL (computer-assisted language learning), CMC (computer-mediated communication), SLA/D (second language acquisition and development), and literacies research.

Course Aims : This course provides a broad overview of technology-enhanced language teaching and learning. Participants will explore a working theory of language learning environments, using and discussing existing and potential applications of computer and mobile technology in the language classroom, and creating projects to use and test knowledge gained through reading, discussion, and hands-on experience.
