Course Contents : An introduction on how to plan an investigation, with particular reference to spacing of boreholes, developing the geological model and conceptual design, Objectives, Stages, Scope and Planning of Urban geotechnical Investigation, Investigation Methods and Procedures, Interpretation of Field and Laboratory Data, Urban geotechnical Data for the Design of Sub-Structures of Building Works, Geotechnical Data for the Design of Civil Works(buildings, roads, railways, tunnels, aqueducts bridges, viaducts, dams, airports, ports, waterways, cemeteries, etc.), Site remediation and land regeneration, Design, construction and operation of landfills sites, The importance of geology and geotechnics on engineering works

Course Goals : To teach importance of geological and geotechnical engineering works in urban area
Course Aims : The course aims at providing inter-disciplinary studies in urban design and to develop an understanding of urban geotechnics in related disciplines.
Students should be able to formulate questions regarding environmental issues in their locality using engineering geological processes/principles.
Students should improve their skills in analyzing data pertaining to geological and geotechnical issues and in drawing informed conclusions regarding Urban geotechnical issues.
Students should be able to discuss and debate geological, geotechnical and environmental issues that are relevant to their county.
