Course Contents : Introduction to machining processes, Mechanical and metallurgical aspects of metal cutting/machining, Types of cutting tools, physical/mechanical/geometrical properties, Microstructures of the cutting tools, Tool life and tool wear; modes and mechanisms, Surface integrity of machined components, Criteria for cutting tool selection, Machinability behaviour of general engineering materials, Cost analysis and optimization in metal cutting
