General Information : : Concept of public relations contains psychology, sociology and much discipline such as communication. The importance of public relations has increased by benefits of discipline and making puts a comprehensive education. Public Relations and Publicity Department provide numerous personnel gain in both advertising and public relations sector. At the present day, almost every institutions and organizations have public relations department and gives opportunity to our students. Since the 1980s the number of advertising agencies also increased in this area has revealed vulnerability.  
Qualification Awarded : Public Relations and Publicity Personnel title will be given.  
Level of Qualification : Short Cycle (Associate?s Degree).  
Specific Admission Requirements : The students have a registration chance by the results of Center Placement Exam which is done by Student Selection and Placement Center and High School Diploma. A student, who starts his /her education in an equivalent programme in foreign or domestic, can apply for a student transfer.  
Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (formal, non-formal and informal) : The alumni, who graduate in this programme, can continue a licensing program in related areas if he/she will successful in the exam which is done by ÖSYM or enters Open University without any examination. The departments for DGS Public Relations Public Relations and Publicity Public Relations and Advertising Communication Arts Communication and Design Advertising Advertising and Public Relations  
Qualification Requirements and Regulations : National qualifications frameworks may contain levels (or intermediate qualifications) within the three Bologna cycles (e.g. a short cycle within the first cycle). These levels allow institutions to structure a particular qualification and regulate progression through the qualification. Qualification Requirements and Regulations are enacted by YÖK (The Council Of Higher Education) in Turkey.  
Profile of The Programme : The students who finish the programme with associate degree, has appellation of Public Relations and Publicity Personnel. The students, who graduate from Public Relations and Publicity programme, have broad business in public and private sectors. The alumni, ? Responsible for customers relations in public relations, marketing and sales departments, ? The responsible of advertisement and publicity, ? can work as responsible for public relations, ? In addition, they can employ in public relations department of municipalities, associations, chambers, bar associations and institutions and newspapers, magazines, radio, TV broadcasting in the organs such as overall employment in the media sector.

Aims Of Programme : The basic goal of this program is to form qualified, creative and well-informed human resources to maintain inner and outer relations of the administrations. Moreover its aimed to create contemporary individuals to work on public affairs and advertisement areas from theory to practice, who can control organizational knowledge and practicing together; acquired the skill of researching and comprehended the ethical, economical and legal sides of the job. It aims to divert and use effectively the work force, which believes in the necessity of public affairs, advertisement and communication on the business and social life of Turkey, to the public affairs, advertisement and communication sector of the country which tries to co-operate with European Union in the globalized world.  
Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading : Süleyman Demirel University is subject to Examination regulations in Associate Degree and Bachelor of Education  
Graduation Requirements : Within the legal period required for graduation to take all the courses and these courses to be successful provided that the program continues at least 2.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) with a total of 30 working days to complete the internship is to be completed. A certain portion of students have failed courses in summer school can also receive coverage.  
Mode of Study (full-time, part-time, e-learning etc.) : Theoretical course description method The method which is based on Visual and practical training Discussion-based methods courses such as processing methods are applied. In addition to this method, students in the program together with personnel of the sector are provided.  

Program Learning Outcomes
1 To have the basic theoretical information related to public relations science, necessary to perform public relations job and to be able to put it into practice
2 Besides the basic sciences such as behavioral sciences and organizational sciences, to have the theoretical information on the interpersonal communication, organizational communication, mass communication and put them into practice
3 To show the success of representing his or her organization written or orally to the large communities bound to the Turkish grammar rules
4 To be proficient on the rules of the state protocol and social protocol and to complete the responsibilities of the organization or manager s/he represents
5 To be able to apply the technical and practical information on the photography, computer, graphical design necessary for the printed materials such as photography bank, introducing films, web pages; and to archive them according to the info and document management rules.
6 Using the research methods? knowledge and skills as a public relations staff, to analyze the data and to use them in the light of the vocational knowledge.
7 To know the basic concepts of the law and mass communication law and to be bound to these rules in performance of the job.
8 To have the necessary information on the marketing, customer relations, advertisement, total quality, human resources management, organization and enterprising which are close concepts to the public relations
9 As members believed in the international ethical laws of public relations, aware of the ethical values of his job, to be able to divert the managers of the organization s/he represents to an understanding of the social responsibility and make campaigns in this way and to co-operate with social organizations
10 To have a vocational and general English knowledge, to be able to use foreign terms and sayings necessary to perform public relations job and to be able to follow the developments in this area.
