Course Aims
This course aims to provide the students with general knowledge related to properties of a particle and particulate materials and their behaviours in a fluid, definition of size and shape of a particle, determination of size distribution, specific surface area, density and flowability of particles, utilising of the particle properties in mineral processing.

Course Contents
Determination of basic properties a particle and particulate materials (size, shape, density, etc.), calculation of shape factors and equivalent diameter, particle size distribution and its effect on bulk density, porosity and packing of particles, behaviour of particles in a fluid (air and water), sizing and separation of particles by means of size, shape and density.
