Course Aims
Finite element method is a tool for solving engineering problems
as to use.
Course Goals
Learning the basic principles of finite element method
Understanding and reporting the results of finite element
To provide the student with some knowledge and analysis skills in forming basic data required in a FEM computer program
Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit
An ability to identify and formulate engineering problems and solve them with numerical and analytical approaches
A knowledge of and ability to apply theoretical and applied mathematics to model, analyze and solve engineering problems
Course Contents
Introduction. General process steps of FEM. Discretization of continuum media. Element interpolation function, shape functions. Isoparametric element concept. Techniques for nonlinear analysis. Integral formulation and variational methods. Computer programs for applications. Miscellaneous applications
