Course Aims
Learning the theory and design of digital control systems and their practical applications.
Course Goals
The main goal of this course is to introduce the students the basics of digital control systems to be used on mechatronics and robotics applications.
Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit
1. be able to create discrete-time physical system models for the analysis and design of numerical control systems.
2. be able to design feedback control architectures.
3. be able to program a microcontroller
4. be able to realize a motion control system.
Course Contents
Digital control systems, Z-transforms, Discrete-time system modeling, Stability, Digital controller design, Root-locus method, Cascade control, State-space controller design, Command generation, Data sampling, Digital Electronics, Microprocessors, PIC microcontrollers, Programming PIC, Motion control systems.
