Course Aims
Learning the theory of design of modern control systems and their practical applications.
Course Goals
The main goal of this course is to introduce the students the basics of modern control systems to be used on mechatronics and robotics applications.
Learning Outcomes of The Course Unit
At the end of this course, the students will be able to learn the theorical subjects given below:
1. the concept of state.
2. state controllability, state observability.
3. transfer function matrix.
4. linear transformation between various state space representations.
5. the correlation between the state transition matrix and the time response of a system.
6. analyzing the stability of a system using Lyapunov approach
7. design of linear state feedback controllers
8. design of state observers
Course Contents
Representation of dynamic systems in state space. Solution of state equations. State controllability, state observability and output controllability. Various state space representations such as controllable canonical form, observable canonical form, diagonal canonical form, Decomposition of transfer functions, Resolvent matrix and transfer function matrix, Pole assignment using state feedbacks, Obtaining optimal feedback coefficients for linear quadratic regulators, Full order observers, Reduced order observers.
