Course Contents : Principles for the development of a failure criterion, empirical failure criteria for intact rock, failure criteria for rock mass, determination of rock mass strength parameters from rock mass classification systems, description of failure conditions for anisotropic rocks, suitability analysis of criteria with statistical analysis of laboratory data

Course Aims : The aim of this course is to ensure that students understand the present failure criteria for intact rock and rock mass and their derivation principles and applications in practice.
